In 2014, Foursquare Labs, Inc. made a risky decision to
split its popular location-based app, Foursquare into newer version of
Foursquare and Swarm app.
Foursquare app are geared to the function of discovery,
while Swarm app are mainly for social features. Decision of splitting into two apps
enhance both functions into a new level.
Discovery function are more personalize to be able for
adding tastes, experiences and following other users. While, check-in features
turn to be more details by showing “friends” nearby to reach out.
In short, this move by Foursquare Labs, Inc created a big
changes to the users.
